"With summer quickly approaching (yeah!), many people have begun to plan family vacations. As you start to search for your perfect escape, you might come across some really good-looking vacation deals. IRS SCAM ALERT!

It is stressful enough for most people just having your taxes done by April 15. Scams aimed at stealing your money can make tax season even more stressful.

Several area residents have reported receiving phone calls from purported IRS Agents demanding payment for taxes owed and were threatened to be arrested if they did not pay immediately by credit card. Luckily they hung up and called the IRS directly.

NORTHFIELD VILLAGE OFFICER HONORED FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE WITH METRO SWAT TEAM

It is my honor as Chief of Police to acknowledge the outstanding performance of Officer Warren Olesinski as reported to me in two letters from Metro SWAT Commander Troy Wilcox.

As part of the team's weapons training, each officer assigned to the team is required to fire a strenuous qualification course twice per year. Officer Olesinski, who is also one of our department range officers, consistently exceeded performance expectations and distinguished himself by firing all perfect scores in 2014. He achieved the perfect scores with both handgun and patrol rifle.

Secondly, Officer Olesinski achieved a point score that qualified him for the Metro SWAT Annual Fitness Award. The testing cycle consisted of the following: 1 ½ mile run (performed twice a year), Illinois Shuttle Run (performed in April 2014), Pull-Ups, Bench Press, Push-Ups, Sit-Ups and the Sit-Reach. Warren graded out as having an "outstanding" performance.

Our congratulations to Warren for his performance! We are proud of his commitment to the team, to our department, and to the community we serve, Northfield Village.
